The importance of a defib

Sudden cardiac arrest is a life-threatening emergency where every second counts. Without immediate treatment it can become quickly fatal. The key to increasing the chance of survival is immediate CPR and the use of a defibrillator within the first 6 minutes of collapse.

In the UK today, only 10% of people survive a sudden cardiac arrest. However, survival rates could increase to as much as 70% when defibrillators are available quickly – particularly in residential areas.

Each year 30,000 people in the UK suffer from a sudden cardiac arrest outside the hospital.
